Vehicle wraps are an excellent way to get your branding out there. No matter where you travel to, your logo and business name will be clearly visible. This is an effective way to be seen by potential customers in all the areas you work in. As well as that, your fleet will look smart and professional. Before taking the plunge and wrapping your vehicles, there’s a few things you need to know. Read on to discover more.
Do Vehicles Wraps Need To Be Declared?
Yes, you must declare your vehicle wrap to your insurer. If you don’t your policy could become void. This means that your insurer could cancel your policy or refuse to help if you make a claim. Even if you’re partway through your policy when you get your wrapping done, you must let your insurer know as it is considered to be a change of circumstances. Your premium may go up a little, but in many cases it will stay the same. Heavily branded, recognisable vehicles are less likely to be a target of theft, so many insurers will not charge extra.
Can You Wash Wrapped Vehicles?
Yes! But to preserve your wrap, it’s best to wash by hand. Automatic car washes are too harsh and are likely to dull the finish or scratch into the wrap. You can use a pressure washer, but make sure it’s on a low setting. It’s also very important that pressure washers are directed face-on to the vehicle. If you allow the stream of water to get under the lip of any of the vinyl, you risk it lifting off.
Caring For Wrapped Vehicles
There are a few cardinal care rules that will help your vinyl wrap to last longer. These are:
- Wipe away any fuel spills immediately. Fuels can break down the vinyl and its adhesive, so don’t allow it to set into the wrap.
- Don’t use waxes, coatings or abrasive vehicle cleaners. These can cause the vinyl to lift or scratch away at the surface, ruining the shine.
- Never allow cleaning solutions to soak into the vinyl. It’s best to scrub away the dirt and then rise it away immediately.
